Phantogram Instagram Campaign
For this project, I created a series of images for a band's promo Instagram posts that were type based and featured no recognizable imagery. My group, Phantogram, had just released their new single "You Don't Get Me High Anymore" when I started, so I used it as the inspiration for my executions. It reminded me a lot of the quotes you find littered in the Tumblr feeds of teenage girls across America. It's the kind of song that makes you want to break a stack of dishes.
My iterations all involved some destruction in their process, be it through cutting, warping, and even burning my materials (which in hindsight I should have done outside rather than at my desk, luckily nothing unintentional caught on fire.) I worked almost entirely by hand to create these images. It felt right for this project to be doing the destroying and distortion without a lot of help from the computer, much more angsty that way.
